This page explains what the information on this website is, and what it is not. It applies to every page here, including the articles on our blog.

General information, not advice about you

The pages and articles on this website explain how midwifery care generally works in Australia: what a home visit covers, what an endorsed midwife is, how Medicare rebates apply, and what to expect in the weeks after a baby is born.

That is general information. It is written without knowing anything about you, your pregnancy, your birth or your baby, so it cannot be advice about your situation and should not be used in place of it.

Anything about your own health or your baby's health belongs with a health professional who knows you: your midwife, your GP, your child and family health nurse, or the hospital where you gave birth.

If something is worrying you

A home visit is planned care, not an emergency service. If you are worried and it will not wait:

  • In an emergency, call 000.
  • For health advice at any hour, Healthdirect has a registered nurse on 1800 022 222.
  • For pregnancy, birth and early parenting questions, Pregnancy, Birth and Baby is on 1800 882 436.

Our resources page lists these and the other services our midwives point families to.

Each midwife practises independently

EverNurture is a collaboration of four endorsed midwives. Each of them runs her own practice and is registered in her own right, and the care you receive comes from the midwife you contact rather than from this website.

That means the things that vary between practices are hers to confirm, not ours: her fee, how she claims a Medicare rebate, the areas she travels to, when she is available, and how far into the early weeks she visits. Where this website describes what the midwives have in common, the detail still comes from her.

Fees and Medicare

Any information here about Medicare rebates is general. Whether a rebate applies to you, how much comes back and when it is paid depend on your own circumstances and on the current rules.

Confirm the fee and the gap you would pay with the midwife you contact, and check your eligibility with her or with Services Australia, before you rely on any figure.

Keeping this website current

We check what we publish, and we update it when something changes. Guidelines, rebate amounts and eligibility rules do move, and there may be a period between a change and our updating a page to match it.

If you spot something here that looks wrong or out of date, please tell us so we can look at it.

Links to other websites

We link to organisations such as Healthdirect, Pregnancy, Birth and Baby and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and to each midwife's own website. Those sites are not ours and we do not control what they publish or how they handle your information. Their own terms and privacy policies apply once you are on them.
